Gurgaon, Haryana:In an effort to rekindle hope for childrensuffering from congenital heart defects, The Fortis Foundation and Being Human-The Salman Khan Foundation have come together to create a heart-warming initiative, The Little Hearts Program.

The joint initiative will leverage Fortis’extensive network of hospitals across the country. Over fifty children have already been treated within six few weeks at the Fortis Hospital in Mulund, Mumbai, and at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon (FMRI).

Sharing the thought behind this initiative, Malvinder Mohan Singh, on behalf ofFortis Foundation said, “Children are very close to our heart. They are the hope and flag bearers for a better tomorrow. There is nothing more precious than the gift of lifeand bringing countless joy and happiness to every child and their family. We are hopeful that these children will grow up to become healthy individuals and an asset to our society.”

Shivinder Mohan Singh, on behalf of the Fortis Foundation, added, “There could be no better occasion to start The Little Hearts Programthan at the launch of our flagship hospital, The Fortis Memorial Research Institute. By doing our bit for the society to address the less fortunate, we hope to take healthcare to an international standard, a blend in making healthcare Glocal.”

Said,Salman Khan, “From time to time, Being Human is approached by cases of children with heart conditions. The solution is very specialised and not financially affordable for a number of people. We needed to partner with a reputed institution that could offer a sustained solution, preferably at a pan-India level. In Fortis, we have found such a partner. Within ten minutes of my first meeting with Shivinder Singh, we shook hands and fifty cases have already been attended to in less than six weeks.”

“We are thankful to Fortis Foundation and Being Human for this initiative. Because of their help, our child is living a healthy life.” said Sachin Sharma, father of eight month old baby, Krishna Sharma, one of the beneficiaries of the programme who underwent a surgical correction for a congenital heart condition, ventricular septal defect with pulmonary stenosis.
