DOORDARSHAN TO RAMP UP CONTENT & MARKETING BY ROLL OUT OF ROBUST POLICY OF SLOT SALE

Doordarshan has unveiled a policy to attract high quality content on its National & Regional Channels through an offer of sale of slots. The policy encourages private entrepreneurs to Make for India’s National Public Service Broadcaster, cutting edge programming with a commitment for providing wholesome family entertainment.
The key features of this outsourcing is to attract bids in the genre of ‘General Entertainment’ from eligible Producers as pertechnical & financial criteria to be notified separately.
Highlights of the Slot Sale Policy:

• The Slot Policy invites eligible offerers to create and market fresh content on the channel for a fixed tenure extendingupto 3 years.
• Sale of slots to be auctioned through e-auction mode.
• The roll out of the Slot Sale Policy to commence with DD’s flagship channel – ‘DD National’ on its prime time slots and to be progressively extended to other slots and channels.
• The Base price for DD National Prime Time is designed, keeping in view the content environment and market economics, to attract bidders.
• The inventory for sale in a 30mins slot will be 4 minutes.
• Slot price increase is to be based on half yearly reviews through a transparent mechanism linked to the ratings achieved in the slot.
• Slots available for bidding would be for a sequence of slots for daily strips on weekdays/weekends.
